A few basics from The Darker Teachings

All things exist within the realm of possibility, but only some things will be forced to go through the motions of actually occurring.

It is the actions and Intent of the seeker which force some things to go through the motions of actually occurring, while other possibilities remain unmanifest. I mention this now, because as you become more adept at dealing with The First Fundamental Lie, you will begin to see that the chaos of all possibility really isn't chaos at all. Everything that happens does so because it is Intended by someone, somewhere, in some corner of "time."

You have undoubtedly run across my riddle: "You have to be immortal before you will know how to become immortal." That is also another way in which you can experience the true nature of "time". Put another way – you have to be the Other before you will know how to become the Other; and the only way to do this is to understand that what appears to be true today might not become manifest until twenty years from now. But because time is not linear, you may begin to experience the Other (through dreaming, meditation or gnosis) long before you force the Other to go through the motions of actually occurring.

How is that done?

That is what the infinite journey is all about, and it is individual to you. Most if not all true seekers speak of what is commonly called "the hurt" – a soul-deep longing, a sense that something or someone somewhere somewhen is somehow missing. The hurt is so powerful at times that it calls one out into the night to shake a fist at the stars or chase the brittle wind or converse in unknown languages with the rain.

That hurt is the energetic connection between you and your Other, and you can use it to define her/him through the art of visualization. It isn't so much about physical appearance of the Other as it is about the type of person you want him to be. And since the Other is a projection of the mortal self, it is about who you want you to be – not just on this transient Earth, but for all of eternity.

First and foremost, you most likely want him to be immortal, which is why the vampire paradigm works so well for this path. You also want him to be your teacher/guide/mentor, so it's important to give him free rein to Go, Be, Do. In other words, you project the Other into the infinite (beyond space and time) to gather experience which may then be communicated to you through gnosis, dreaming, meditation. The actual projection of the Other usually isn't something you do consciously. It projects itself, given the agenda stated above. It knows where to go and what to do. You don't need to tell it to go live a lifetime in Pompeii and another in France, for example. You don't need to tell it to be a starship captain or a sex slave in ancient Rome. It knows what you need to know, and it will seek its own experience, which is part of you, even if you don't realize it on a conscious level.

This is also the nature of so-called "past lives". They aren't past at all, but occurring in the infinite Now, through the vessel of the Other. As you progress on the path and your twin becomes stronger and more adept (yes, I know time isn't linear, but words can only define the indefinable to a certain point), you will begin to notice that you start to develop what amounts to a permanent state of gnosis with your Other. This isn't to say you will remember all of your parallel lives, nor is it at all necessary to do so. They are part of your experience base, part of the riddle, "You have to be immortal before you will know how to become immortal." If you give the Other the agenda to "Teach me and make me immortal" (just to be very simplistic), then everything the Other does in the infinite will address that command and attempt to fulfill that agenda.
