Stoking the Flame

These wintry days pile up around me like snowdrift
atop discarded skeletons of dreams
my icy bones ache and break
and there is a chill stalking the perimeter of my heart
so easy to slip into the yawning nothingness
of a pearly white oblivion
But my heart is a renegade
and wild
I cannot surrender to this comfortable death
sleeping forever in his ugly rickety arms
For my Love waits
under heavy boughs of silent mossy green
howling at the moon
like a lovestruck Romeo
He waits for me
to stoke the flame
and set myself free
atop discarded skeletons of dreams
my icy bones ache and break
and there is a chill stalking the perimeter of my heart
so easy to slip into the yawning nothingness
of a pearly white oblivion
But my heart is a renegade
and wild
I cannot surrender to this comfortable death
sleeping forever in his ugly rickety arms
For my Love waits
under heavy boughs of silent mossy green
howling at the moon
like a lovestruck Romeo
He waits for me
to stoke the flame
and set myself free

I read this several hours ago but I need to say that I enjoyed it and had to read several times to catch the melancholy wisps that wandered their way through this.
