The Rabble

The rabble keep banging on my castle wall
wanting just a glimpse
a sliver of my soul
they plead for their lives
for longevity and health
they beg for fortune and fame
an abundance of wealth
or maybe a love to be returned
to their keeping
so they can finally be done
with all their weeping

But it is not mine to give
such desires to bestow
for I lost everything once
and learned to reclaim it all

I have earned my magic
from the blood and the sweat
of my unyielding intent
the ocean of tears I shed
as my ravaged heart bled

And so I wait for the one
who stands distinctly apart
and will do what it takes
to birth their own magical heart
